Searching for a Solar for Non-Profit Expert? You're in the right spot.
Non-profit organizations and their supporters can now harness the benefits of solar power to not only reduce electricity expenses but also enjoy substantial government reimbursements. Thanks to the new Inflation Reduction Act, non-profits are eligible for a significant 30% Direct Pay Reimbursement directly from the Treasury Department, aiding in covering the costs of solar investments.
However, Solar Tax Pros proposes an even more advantageous strategy for non-profits: encouraging their donors to invest directly in the solar systems.
By opting for this approach, the investor (donor) stands to receive up to 70% in solar incentive refunds. In contrast, if the donor were to simply donate cash to the non-profit, they would only be entitled to a tax deduction worth 37%.
Clearly, the 70% refund significantly outweighs the 30% reimbursement offered by the government. Therefore, it’s financially beneficial for the donor to invest in a solar system for the non-profit rather than making a cash donation.
In states with Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs), nearly 100% of the costs can be reimbursed to the donor, further enhancing the attractiveness of this investment opportunity.
